Physiological Measures of Risk Perception in Highly Automated Driving

چکیده
Highly automated driving will likely result in drivers being out-of-the-loop during specific scenarios and engaging a wide range of non-driving related tasks. Manifesting lower levels risk perception to emerging events, thus affect drivers’ availability take-over manual control safety-critical scenarios. In this empirical research, we measured (N = 20) with cardiac skin conductance indicators through series high-fidelity, simulated highly By manipulating the presence surrounding traffic changing conditions as long-term modulators, including hazard event short-term modulator, hypothesised that an increase would induce greater physiological arousal. Our results demonstrate heart rate variability features are superior at capturing arousal variations from these long-term, low moderate contrast, responses more sensitive rapidly evolving situations associated high risk. Based on future driver state monitoring systems should adopt multiple measures capture changes long short term, modulation perception. This enable enhanced readiness improved safely deal events when requested by vehicle.

Human-machine Cooperation in Highly Automated Driving
This paper presents a concept for a highly automated vehicle which allows for adaption to and cooperation with a human driver. This addresses the problem of vehicle automation level 3, as defined by the NHTSA, where a vehicle is capable of being driven automatically, but the human driver is still in charge from a legal point of view.
متن کاملPredicting of Machine Perception for Automated Driving
In the case of highly-automated and fully-automated driving it is necessary for the vehicle itself to recognize the limitations of its machine perception, as well as the functional limitations of processing modules based on this perception to react adequately. While simulator studies of highly-automated driving have shown that realistic transfer times to the driver of between 5 and 10 s can be ...
متن کاملOptimal Trajectories for Highly Automated Driving
In this contribution two approaches for calculating optimal trajectories for highly automated vehicles are presented and compared. The first one is based on a non-linear vehicle model, used for evaluation. The second one is based on a simplified model and can be implemented on a current ECU. In usual driving situations both approaches show very similar results. Keywords—Trajectory planning, dir...

The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of control source and risk perception in predicting the behavior of taxi drivers in Karaj. The research method was descriptive-correlation. The statistical population of this study was all 718 young taxi drivers in the city of Karaj. According to the Cochran formula at the level of 0.05, 250 young taxi drivers in Karaj were selected by avail...
متن کاملThe influence of highly automated driving on the self-perception of drivers in the context of Conduct-by-Wire.
Today, new driving paradigms are being introduced that aim to reduce the number of standalone driver assistance systems by combining these into one overarching system. This is done to reduce the demands on drivers but often leads to a higher degree of automation. Feasibility and driver behaviour are often the subject of studies, but this is contrasted by a lack of research into the influence of...
